The Benefits of Oregano

Oregano (Scientific name: Origanum vulgare) is also known as Wild Marjoram, Mountain Mint, Origanum, Wintersweet and Winter Marjoram.

Hand of Hope: Samuel Alexander Armas

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the paper, you probably will never see it.

Tracey Connelley, Baby P's Evil Mom, Shows NO Remorse

I have never been affected by any story as much as Baby P's story has affected me. Yesterday evening, I found myself sobbing twice! I just can't get over the sheer horror of the story.

Baby P's Murderers -- Why Are They Being Protected?

In my country, it has never happened before that the media and the people have been forbidden to actually reveal the names and faces of TC and SB, the murderers of Baby P.

That Winter The Wind Blows Finale: Did Oh Soo Die?

Over the holy week break, I spent the entire four days just watching the 15 episodes of this Korean show. Yes, I am a self-confessed Korean drama addict. I already have my favorite actors and actresses; albeit, I don’t know their names.

No to Abortion!

When I was pregnant with Paige, I couldn't wait for her movements. I was frustrated when I couldn't feel the "bubbles" or the "butterfly movements" in my stomach. One of the best moments though was when I finally felt her kicking and moving. It was wonderful. Well, at first, it was. Later on, it hurt especially during the last trimester. She'd wake me up with a strong kick at night or she'd poke at me with her hands. I could actually see a bump at the surface of my stomach. It was amazing, but weird. Often, it was painful.

Anyway, I applaud those who choose to keep their babies. Abortion is never an answer. It's murder -- plain and simple.

!0 Things You Probably Don't Know about S*x

I was looking for some materials on cooking shows and I came across this article. I found it interesting, so I decided to post it here. For your convenience, however, I decided to paste it here. You can visit the site though if you want.

1: Ready, set, go—there’s nearly no difference in the amount of time it takes healthy men and women to reach peak sexual arousal: roughly 10 minutes. -- Get that?! 10!

2: One per cent of adults have zero interest in sex and have never felt sexually attracted to anyone at all. On the other end of the rainbow, an estimated 3 to 6 per cent of the population have some form of sex addiction.

3: Straight, gay or flexible? Recent research suggests women may be “intrinsically bisexual,” and the higher their libido, the more they desire both sexes. In another study, the female subjects—whether they considered themselves straight or gay—were physically aroused by erotic films of both men and women. In contrast, the straight men were excited just by women, and the gay men only by men. -- So, that explains why I had a crush on a lesbian in High School. ☺

4: Canadian men have, on average, 23 sexual partners in total (notably more than the global average of 13), according to one recent worldwide survey. Their female counterparts reportedly have 10. The hitch? Number crunchers say the finding that men have substantially more bedmates on average than women is mathematically impossible.

5: Beyond its unsexy smell and taste, smoking appears to double a man’s risk of moderate or complete erectile dysfunction.

6: Once upon a time, doctors treated women suffering from “hysteria” by stimulating them to orgasm—a service dubbed “medical massage.” By the 1930s, it was abandoned in favour of psychotherapy. -- Too Bad!!!

7: Why do I bed thee? Let me count the ways. U.S. researchers who set out to catalogue all the reasons why humans have sex came up with 237 distinct ones. Among the top 10 motives, women and men had eight in common. A notable exception: “I realized I was in love” came in at number nine for women, but at number 17 for men. -- tsk.tsk.tsk.

8: Having sex regularly—at least once a week—may promote fertility in women by regulating hormones and menstrual patterns.

9: Male sweat contains androstadienone, a compound that enhances mood and sexual arousal in women. Alas, it also boosts levels of stress hormones. The chemical has been used as an ingredient in men’s fragrances.

10: What’s love got to do with it? Sexual arousal and romantic love activate quite distinct areas of the brain—and love is clearly the more powerful. The latter turns on dopamine-rich regions linked with motivation, and falling in love is not unlike the rush of taking cocaine, hence the addictiveness of a new crush, and the withdrawal-like symptoms of love lost.

YoVille

I am freaking addicted to Facebook's YoVille. Ever since my sister-in-law invited me to join, I have been addicted to it. I was never really a fan of Facebook, but I am now because of this application.

It's really great. You get to meet people and you get to visit other people's apartments. You also have to work so you can decorate your house. You can drink coffee and purchase clothes. It's addicting.

I am so addicted that I called up my sister at 2 o'clock in the morning to get her to join YoVille, so I will have additional crews. Salary increases when you are promoted. The bigger your crew, the bigger your salary. Okay, okay. Your reaction right now is probably similar to my sister's reaction when I called her up just for that.

Mt. Isarog

I took these pictures while on the bus traveling to Lagonoy for All Souls Day. If you are from Naga City, you probably see Mt. Isarog from afar. But you can never truly appreciate its beauty unless you come close to it. I was at awe the first time I saw it traveling to Partido for the Fellow's Sangay overnight swimming. That was about -- well, I don't know 10 years ago, I think.

Anyway, Erbe is from Lagonoy, so we usually visit every now and then. But even though, I've been to Lagonoy countless times, the beauty of Mt. Isarog never ceased to amaze me. My daughter agrees because she couldn't stop saying, "Wow!"

Pine for Pine's Brilliantly Hilarious Post

After Obama won, we had heard of reports about the President's (Arroyo) attempts to get in touch with Obama. Anyway, I came across this blog entry from Pine for Pine. This blogger is brilliantly hilarious! I couldn't stop laughing after I finished reading the post.
PGMA haughtily (the presidential adjective) called Serge R (her press sec) about her "script" before calling Obama.
The notes has the following bullets:

Congratulate profusely.
Remind him of the 100-year friendship of Philippines and US.
Hawaii. Ilocanos in Hawaii.
Indonesia. Very near the Philippines.
Despite my corpulent and dumb husband and sons, I adore skinny, intelligent men.
African students in Philippines. Do not touch on drug and Nigerian scammers.
Remind him of Filipino chef and food tasters in White House.
Soul food.
Invite to Philippines
BUT do not talk about abortion and killing journalists

The note ready. She called for Serge to start calling Obama. Five minutes passed. No answer. try again. Ten minutes.
Hindi ba tayo mapapahiya diyan kagaya ng wrong number kay Gov. Baguilat?
Fifteen minutes.
Hay naku! Connect me now! Now! Now!
Five minutes. Busy.
The tension in the room can be sensed by a mosquito at nearby Pasig River.
Madame President, I think we got connected.
Haughtily, she grabbed the phone.
"Hello, President-elect. This is the Philippines President. I would like to congratulate you for being the first Black President..."
"Uh. Thank you. Salamat"
"You speak Filipino, President Obama?"
"Uh? This is Mayor Binay. Paano mo nalaman na tatakbo't manana..."
