The Benefits of Oregano

Tracey Connelley, Baby P's Evil Mom, Shows NO Remorse

I have never been affected by any story as much as Baby P's story has affected me. Yesterday evening, I found myself sobbing twice! I just can't get over the sheer horror of the story.

Baby P's Murderers -- Why Are They Being Protected?

In my country, it has never happened before that the media and the people have been forbidden to actually reveal the names and faces of TC and SB, the murderers of Baby P.

Over the holy week break, I spent the entire four days just watching the 15 episodes of this Korean show. Yes, I am a self-confessed Korean drama addict. I already have my favorite actors and actresses; albeit, I don’t know their names.

Steven Barker Marked For Kill in Jail

In 2007, I wrote several blog posts on Baby P.  That little angel's story shook me to the core.  Everyday, I'd scour the internet for news about him - and I'd cry and cry.

Just now, I came across this article about Steven Barker, the depraved evil creature that hurt and eventually killed Baby Peter.  Apparently, he's been marked by Damien Fowkes, another prisoner.  Apparently, Fowkes was originally jailed for robbery but he's now jailed for "killing a well-known paedophile and slashing the throat of Soham killer Ian Huntley".  Apparently, Fowkes has turned vigilante - and right now he has Barker marked.

I don't know if I'd be happy about Fowkes or not. But I can't say I'd be sad if something equally terrible happens to Barker.

A Very Long Rambling

This is going to be a long post. I haven't been blogging. I must have frustrated some people - stalkers particularly. Oh, yeah, that reminds me. Perhaps, I can start with that.

You! Yes, you! You really need to get a life, you know? My best friend is taken. She's going to get married SOON. She doesn't like you. She NEVER liked you. She thinks you are creepy and seriously demented. She loves her Billy. Deal with it - and PLEASE move on!!!

Now, since that's out of the way, I can proceed with my ramblings.

There's marriage. I wanted to blog about it. Another one of my friends chose to end her marriage a few weeks ago. I just learned about it last Monday. She has her reasons. They're legit, but I have ambivalent feelings about her decision. I told her that I think she chose the easy way out. She agrees with me, but she said that her decision freed her. She feels so much more at peace. It's a sad thought, isn't it? It's sad that her peace lies on the end of her marriage.

I've been worried about my friends. There's T who I hope could just move on. I hope that she would realize that she's lucky she's free of that ass she married. Now, this is one marriage that I am happy has ended. T doesn't agree with me though. After all that has happened, she still wants the ass back. We got into an argument about it. I even told her to get psychiatric help because she apparently needs one badly. Yes, I can be that cruel.

Then there's S. I'm also worried about her. I like her guy, but she told me things that gave rise to some concerns. Something is definitely not right. I just hope that he has a very good reason for "it".

And then there's Tinay. I worry about her sometimes. Yes, I do. I worry about you being all cooped up. And you posting stuffs like "you deserve to be love, love, love" in Facebook does not help at all. Sometimes, I worry that I'd find you with a long white beard after living under that rock. You have the long hair down to a pat, next the beard! :)

On a different note, I have been crying over Cory Aquino. I find it so silly that I have been crying over her. I don't really know why. I'm not just tearing up. I am actually bawling! Really! Honest to goodness waah...waah..waah.. kind of crying. It's embarrassing.

Fortunately, I'm spared of Erbe's you're-being-ridiculous glances. He has been gone for a couple of days now. I'm not used to not having him around. Paige and work occupy my time, so... He laughs though when I call him up just to cry. Just a while ago, I was bargaining for him to take the day trip home tomorrow.

He wasn't able to come with us to the doctor. Paige has an ear infection which the doctor said is my fault. How can that be my fault? Well, apparently, cleaning her ears with buds only forced the dirt to go deeper. I did not actually clean her ears. Apparently, I should have just let her ears be. Also, she inherited allergic rhinitis from me, so she has it. The allergies also caused her ear inflammation. So, basically, it's all my fault! You can shoot me now!

She was a really good girl though when we visit the ENT doctor. After her checkup, she was offered lollipops and she unabashedly took three.

By the way, do you know that Sister Lucia of Fatima is dead? I didn't know that! Apparently, she died last February 2005. I thought she was going to live long enough to witness the end of the world. I really thought she would - and I'd often find myself worrying about the fact that she was not getting any younger. I was really counting on her living for another three hundred years. Oh, well. I really have to stock up on the blessed candles then.

Do you know that the third secret of Fatima is this - that Satan will invade the higher hierarchies of the Church? It's not surprising why several Popes refused to reveal this secret.

On a less serious note, I took a picture of my mother's yearbook picture the other day. She looks pretty. I'm glad she did not have her hair up like a poodle in this picture. :)

Earlier this evening, I was browsing through various websites for research and I came across this website. The words were very familiar. And while reading through the whole thing, I realized that I actually wrote the sales letter that I was reading. So, I checked and I was right. It felt weird to see my words posted like that. I can't post the link though. My boss will kill me if I claim the letter as my own. Nobody will buy the product anymore. After all, I even wrote the imaginary testimonials. :)

By the way, S, are you still reading this?
Congratulations! I think -- ah, what's her name? M! Yes, M gave birth to your baby already, right? You must be a really proud father then. Does he look like you?

To end this long post - P, this is a long read. Something to kill time between work. :) Where are you anyway? Did you come home for the weekend? I suppose not. You have not posted pictures of N.

Hand of Hope: Samuel Alexander Armas

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the paper, you probably will never see it. The picture is that of a 21-week-old unborn baby named Samuel Alexander Armas, who is being operated on by a surgeon named Joseph Bruner.

The baby was diagnosed with spina bifida and would not survive if removed from his mother's womb. Little Samuel's mother, Julie Armas, is an obstetrics nurse in Atlanta. She knew of Dr. Bruner's remarkable surgical procedure. Practicing at Vanderbilt University Medical Center in Nashville, he performs these special operations while the baby is still in the womb.

During the procedure, the doctor removes the uterus via C-section and makes a small incision to operate on the baby. During the surgery on little Samuel, the little guy reached his tiny, but fully developed, hand through the incision and firmly grasped the surgeon's finger.

The photograph captures this amazing event with perfect clarity. The editors titled the picture, "Hand of Hope." The text explaining the picture begins, "The tiny hand of 21-week-old fetus Samuel Alexander Armas emerges from the mother's uterus to grasp the finger of Dr. Joseph Bruner as if thanking the doctor for the gift of life."

Little Samuel's mother said they "wept for days" when they saw the picture.

She said, "The photo reminds us my pregnancy isn't about disability or an illness, it's about a little person" "The Hand" of the fetus. You can see the actual picture, and it is awesome...incredible.

May Vecina Should Have Paid for Her Crime!

Justice should ALWAYS prevail.

May Vecina was found guilty. In fact, she admits that she did commit the horrendous crime. Her excuse -- no matter how strong she thinks it is -- does not make it okay for her to kill those children! She should pay for her crime.

Why is it that by virtue of being a Filipino, we turn a blind eye to this fact. She killed a child! No, scratch that, she murdered a 7-year-old child!

That is inexcusable.

Death penalty may be too much, but she should still pay for what she did. She may have suffered in the hands of her employers, but she took three lives in return! What she did went beyond demanding an eye for an eye!

Commutation wouldn't have been given if she committed the crime inside the country! She would have spent 20 to 40 years in prison! Nobody would asked for her pardon! We would have crucified her if she committed the crime here.

Double standards is at work here. We raised hell at Daniel Smith and refused to release him for allegedly raping an all-too-willing victim (as Nicole now allegedly admits). Why do we then ask pardon for a woman who admits killing three people? Why not ask pardon for everyone who committed murder inside the country?

Is murder okay then if it is committed overseas? Are we going to treat overseas murderers as hometown heroes then? Are we turning into a nation of hypocrites?

Peter Pan and Other News

It's one of those days -- women days -- you know.
I have that.
It sucks because I have migraines to go along with these days.
My temples have been throbbing for the last couple of hours.
I am working - as usual - writing a review. After this, I am going to edit Squidoo pages. And If I have time, I'll finish a couple of feature articles. All this - with a throbbing headache.

I take breaks though and when I do, I watch Cyber Seduction, His Secret Life.
It's a Jeremy Sumpter movie. Jeremy who? :)
Remember that 2003 Peter Pan movie?

Well, Sumpter played Peter Pan -- and he had that beguiling adorable smile that makes you all gushy inside. I practically felt like an effing pedophile. I was with my friends when we watched the movie and we laughed at ourselves for acting like a bunch of idiots over that boy - who by the way is all grown up now.

Here he is in CSI Miami

See? He's all grown-up but still cute - thus, the movie.

On a more serious note, have you heard of Sandra Cantu and Melissa Huckaby?

The latter has been arrested for abduction, rape and murder of Sandra Cantu, an 8-year-old little girl. Yes, rape. Isn't that grotesque? Huckaby is a Sunday bible teacher and a mother to a 5-year-old girl. It doesn't seem to add up, huh?

You know how it's like with mothers? We tend to trust other mothers. You know how fiercely protective we are of our children and we tend to think that other mothers are like that as well to their own children - because we can't imagine how a mother would feel otherwise, right? This is why I find this news really alarming. The world is a sad, sad place.

I have to stop watching the Failon news and stop following this story - they are depressing the hell out of me.

Chip Tsao and My Reaction to His "Satire"

You have probably heard of Chip Tsao and his controversial article The War at Home. But have you read the article? I just did and I was surprised. Contrary to the public outrage, I was amused. In fact, it left me laughing out loud.

I know it is these lines - "as a nation of servants, you don't flex your muscles at your master, from whom you earn most of your bread and butter" -- that have inspired anger. It is the words "nation of servants" that have offended many people. I, however, gave out a snort once I heard it. I even muttered, "Well, there's some truth to it." Didn't you think the same? It is sad but poverty has forced thousands of people to work as domestic helpers - and the government is benefiting from this "export". I was still a bit outraged though, so I was surprised when I read the article. It left me giggling and laughing at the picture that was painted especially at the end of the article. Conrado de Quiros explained the article well.

Anyway, here is the full text of The War at Home -

hawkish American military behind them, but we have a hostage in each of our homes in the Mid-Levels or higher. Some of my friends told me they have already declared a state of emergency at home. Their maids have been made to shout 'China, Madam/Sir' loudly whenever they hear the word "Spratly". They say the indoctrination is working as wonderfully as when we used to shout, "Long live Chairman Mao!" at the sight of a portrait of our Great Leader during the Cultural Revolution. I’m not sure if that's going a bit too far, at least for the time being.

It's funny, right? Well, I think so. If you will ignore your outrage over the "nations of servants" bit, you will find that it's a fairly good satire. Perhaps, it will have you giggling too. :)

If you really want to giggle though, you should check out this article of The Professional Heckler.

Elizabeth Fritzi: Justice Has Been Served

Justice has been served.
Austrian incest father, Josef Fritzi, pleaded guilty to all charges including the negligent homicide charge for the death of one of the twin boys.
I was afraid he would only serve 7 years for the other charges - rape, incest, forced imprisonment and coercion.
He is sick. The sentence is just fair.

Nicole: I was not rape by Daniel Smith!

Nicole, the "alleged" Subic rape case victim, submitted a new affidavit to the Court of Appeals and this time, she claimed that perhaps she was not raped at all by Daniel Smith. She said that perhaps she either gave the latter the impression that she wanted to have sex with him or that she actually did have consensual sex with him - but she was just too fucked up with liquor that she forgot if she opened her legs willingly or not.

She said, "Perhaps, I was not rape at all."

Well....
You think?!

99% of the country's population actually never believed her claim except of course for the members of Gabriella who were too busy rallying that they never really considered the veracity of her claims. I wonder what they'd say about this affidavit now.

Anyway, I've always said that she wasn't rape. My bar review professor said the same. Now, Nicole is admitting the same. I don't know if she was paid to do that or her conscience finally got the best of her. Either ways, my reaction is, "You think?!"

911 - McNuggets Arrest!

Have you heard this news yet?

It's hilarious. I came across this at TMZ. Anyway, I'll just quote the report here -

There's a reason this woman is wearing a serious grimace on her face -- she was just arrested over a box of Chicken McNuggets!!

Here's how it all went down: Latreasa Goodman claims she ordered -- and paid -- for a box of some delicious nuggets at a Mickey D's in Florida over the weekend, when suddenly the unthinkable happened -- she was told there were no more nuggets to be had. When an employee told her it was against store policy to give refunds, Latreasa called 911 -- three times in a row.

When the cops got to the scene, they tried to explain that McNugget drama is not an emergency -- but according to the police report obtained by TheSmokingGun.com, Latreasa begged to differ:

"This is an emergency, If I would have known they didn't have McNuggets, I wouldn't have given my money, and now she wants to give me a McDouble, but I don't want one. This is an emergency."

But here's the rub: Even after cops cited her for "misuse of 911," Latreasa continued to tell cops, "This is an emergency, my McNuggets are an emergency."

FYI -- the mug shot in this post is from a previous arrest. We're guessing Der Wienerschnitzel ran out of chili.

P___ ina! I am Not Sorry by Mar Roxas

P___ ina! (SOB) …Patayin ang Gloria-forever Cha-cha na ito!” [Let’s kill this Gloria-forever Charter change!], opposition Sen. Mar Roxas shouted at last Friday’s rally in Makati City to denounce moves by Malacañang allies to revise the Constitution through a constituent assembly.

This has been quite controversial.

Should he be sorry? Well, perhaps, he could have chosen a better word. But I think it was just apt. It expressed how I feel -- perhaps, what you feel as well. It expressed the rage that everyone suffering from the Dwarf's gluttonous regime is feeling. So, no, I don't think he should be sorry.

Apparently, he feels the same --

A Privilege Speech on last Friday’s Anti-Cha-Cha rally
Delivered on December 16, 2008, Tuesday
Session Hall, Senate of the Philippines

Mr. President, may I take a moment of the chamber’s time to rise on a matter of personal privilege.

Una: gaya noong Biyernes, magsasalita ako nang deretsahan ngayon: I AM NOT SORRY. I am not sorry for speaking my mind and telling the truth as I see it to be. I am not sorry for expressing my real feelings and my rage in behalf of the people whom I love.

They are entitled to their opinion, and I respect it. I AM NOT SORRY.

What are the real issues?

This government has systematically ravaged our political and economic life.
This government has twisted our institutions to suit its self-serving interests.
This government has torn apart our nation.

Mamundok. Mag-armas at lumaban.

Ayaw nating mangyari ang mga ito. We do not want our people to suffer in silence, nor to have to leave their families, nor have to take up arms. Kailangan nating kapitan ang katotohanan. Kailangan nating ihiyaw ito. We must shout out the truth so that we can be free. We must break the apathy and the paralysis. Our outrage will move us forward. I must speak of the people’s anguish.

Kasama ng taumbayan, I say: I AM NOT SORRY.

Baby P's Mother Gets 5 Years Imprisonment? WTF?

People do not understand why I am so "obsessed" with Baby P's story. So far, all I've been writing here is his story. At least, I have stopped crying now every time I come across his picture. To be honest, I don't think many people know of this little boy's story. Elizabeth Fritzi's was covered in our local news, but Baby P's story was not.

Anyway, have you read this article from Daily Mail? Apparently, the English public will have to pay millions of pounds to help Baby P's mother get a new identity once she is out of prison. Her lawyers have to prove that her life is in danger -- and well, this is not hard to prove considering how everyone is calling out for her blood.

Similar orders have been granted for other notorious convicts - including the Soham murderer's girlfriend Maxine Carr, child killer Mary Bell and the boys who murdered toddler James Bulger.
Apparently, she'd likely get 5 years at most in prison.

The mother, who has given birth again while in jail, faces a maximum of 14 years when she is sentenced next month for allowing the death of a child. But as she has already spent time in prison on remand, she could be free in as little as five years.

Legal rules mean that the 16 months Baby P's mother has spent on remand will reduce the time she has to spend in jail by 32 months, and she will receive a reduced sentence for pleading guilty to allowing her son's death.
I am not English, but I think this is the ULTIMATE insult. Honest taxpayers have to pay millions of pounds in order to protect someone against -- well, the public. And 5 years?! Seriously! 5 Years! That's all she gets for killing her child. Okay, let's not get into a rhetorical discussion about the crime she was actually convicted with because no matter where you look at it -- she killed her child. That's that. And you know what's even more ironic? She has not even shown any remorse. The Daily Mail reports that --
Today Baby P's mother is being kept in a segregation unit at Holloway jail for her own safety. She has astonished prison officers by laughing and joking with them. According to one, she has shown 'no sign of contrition whatsoever'.

WTF?
