The Benefits of Oregano

Oregano (Scientific name: Origanum vulgare) is also known as Wild Marjoram, Mountain Mint, Origanum, Wintersweet and Winter Marjoram.

A picture began circulating in November. It should be "The Picture of the Year," or perhaps, "Picture of the Decade." It won't be. In fact, unless you obtained a copy of the paper, you probably will never see it.

Tracey Connelley, Baby P's Evil Mom, Shows NO Remorse

I have never been affected by any story as much as Baby P's story has affected me. Yesterday evening, I found myself sobbing twice! I just can't get over the sheer horror of the story.

Baby P's Murderers -- Why Are They Being Protected?

In my country, it has never happened before that the media and the people have been forbidden to actually reveal the names and faces of TC and SB, the murderers of Baby P.

That Winter The Wind Blows Finale: Did Oh Soo Die?

Over the holy week break, I spent the entire four days just watching the 15 episodes of this Korean show. Yes, I am a self-confessed Korean drama addict. I already have my favorite actors and actresses; albeit, I don’t know their names.

Time of Our Lives by Tyrone Wells

I've first heard Tyrone Well's Time of Our Lives in one episode of The Vampire Diaries. I fell in-love with this song and I've checked out the rest of his music. I fell in-love with it. It's not often I come across an artist whose albums I really, really love.

Here's Time of Our Lives by Tyrone Wells.

My Blog. My Narcissism.

Grab the book nearest to you, turn to page 18, and find line 4.
"work to undo the knots tying her hands. Panic made"

Stretch your left arm out as far as you can, What can you touch?
Left hand touches paige's hand. Right hand touches my green pouch.

Before you started this, what were you doing?
Looking for romcom movies to download.

Without looking, guess what time it is
2:00?

Now look at the clock. What is the actual time?
It's actually 1 A.M. Wasted 30 minutes of my time. I'm wasting it again. I should be working!

With the exception of the computer, what can you hear?
Very noisy aircon.  That reminds me we need to get this clean ASAP.

(check out the link below for more. If you  are interested enough to actually consider clicking on it, you love me. Yes, you do. I don't care who you are. You wouldn't be that interested to read more about me if you hate me - unless of course, you're Erbe's ex then you just have a morbid fascination with me. In that case, you need to get yourself checked - or you need to get a life. fast.)

Paige's Latest Drawings

She can do these things at 4. I cannot do this at her age. Imagine, what she can do at 10 or at 18! Proud Mom, much?

Happy Birthday Bessieboo!

A Daughter's Threat

Earlier, I was working while listening to Erbe loudly in the shower. Erbe likes old songs. He likes really, really old song - and he likes them in Tagalog. These are songs that not even my mother knows. He said these are songs he heard sang by contestants in singing contests  during town fiestas in Lagonoy while he was growing up.

Anyway, his songs drive me nuts. They are so painful to listen to and he enjoys singing them. Not only does he sing them at the top of his voice (which lead neighbors to shush him up several times) but he also enjoy singing them with his tenor voice - voice trembling.

Anyway, after several minutes of his singing, my head was throbbing. literally. I was beginning to get really irritated and I kept muttering, "makulog na lang payo ko". Paige who was waiting for us to get dressed heard me and stomped her way to the bathroom and started knocking on the door.

"Papa! Papa! Tama na," she shouted. "Makulog na lang payo ni mama sa kanta mo! Tama na!"

But Erbe refused to balk. To irritate her, he sang even louder. This prompted Paige to start knocking on the door again and shout, "Tama na Papa! Makulog na payo ni mama! Tama na!"

Again, Erbe sang even louder.

Finally, Paige said, "Pag dai ka nagpundo, sige ka, sisiripun ko lubot mo!"

I started laughing. Being her age and being really playful, Paige likes to take a peek at people while they are taking their bath. This makes Erbe really, really furious. This is why her threat is really a well-thought of threat. She knows it would irritate him and it would get him to stop.

And it did, but not before he shouted back, "Lubot saimo!"

Answering 365 Thought Provoking Questions

I came across the 365 Thought Provoking Questions to Ask Yourself This Year post recently and I bookmarked it. The questions are indeed thought-provoking. They're questions that I would like to answer myself, but I really do not have the time to answer all of them all at once, so I thought I'd answer 20 questions every now and then.

So, here goes:

When was the last time you tried something new? The other night when I ordered Doppio coffee and I ended up hating it.

Who do you sometimes compare yourself to?

I know the answer to this, but I am not just ready to give the world a glimpse of my insecurities right now. In truth, I compare myself to anyone or everyone who I feel were able to draw the longer sticks.

What's the most sensible thing you've ever heard someone say?

"This, too, shall pass." These are words I lived by when things are going shitty and even shittier.

What gets you excited about life?

Changes.Adventure.Promises.Opportunities.Something New.

What life lesson did you learn the hard way?

That sometimes, it all boils down to one thing - money.  You can get away with anything as long as you have money. Some people will base your worth as a person on how much you have in your bank account.

What do you wish you spent more time doing five years ago?

Studying for the bar exams, but I really do not regret my choices. Yes, I've lost some but what I've gained pretty much compensates for whatever I have lost. They're actually worth more than life itself.

Do you ask enough questions or do you settle for what you know?

I ask and I make sure I discover the answer. I really cannot give up a question until I know the answer to it.

04032011(013)Who do you love and what are you doing about it?

My family. I'm giving everything I can give to them - and that basically covers 90% of me. Yes, 90%.

What's a belief that you hold with which many people disagree?

Nothing really. I don't hold any radical beliefs.  I believe the same thing that most people believe in.

What can you do today that you were not capable of a year ago?

Do you think crying is a sign of weakness or strength? Neither. It's an expression of joy and sorrow. Silly question really.

What would you do differently if you knew nobody would judge you?

I'd probably join a singing contest and I'd belt out an Aegis song!

Do you celebrate the things you do have?

Of course, I do.   It is only by reminding yourself of what you have and how blessed you are that you find peace and happiness in your heart.  Seriously, why the hell should I not?

What is the difference between living and existing?

This is another stupid question.

If not now, then when?

This is a question that does not apply at all to me because I never miss an opportunity to do something that I can do now.

Have you done anything lately worth remembering?

I am doing the most difficult job in the world - being a mother.  And I'm definitely doing something worth remembering on a daily basis. I am trying to rear a child to become a decent human being who fears God and who respects other people.

P1050006What does your joy look like today?

4-1/2 year old sassy little girl and a demanding 6-month-old baby. That is the definition of my JOY.

Is it possible to lie without saying a word?

Should I bother with the rest of the questions when I am getting questions like this?

If you had a friend who spoke to you in the same way that you sometimes speak to yourself, how long would you allow this person to be your friend?

I have a friend who speaks to me like the way I speak to myself - and we are still friends. So, yeah, I would say forever.

Which activities make you lose track of time?

Movies and TV shows definitely. Damn it.

Next 20 questions: When I feel like answering them.

Drive: The surprising truth about what motivates us

I came across this video while working and the concept presented here is an amazing paradox. It's enlightening though - and I must say I really enjoyed the way he presented the concept. I'm an artist after all (albeit a mediocre one).

AFTER ALL THESE YEARS...

Why You're Not Married

I came across this article in Huffington Post by Tracy McMillan entitled Why You're Not Married.  The article is harsh, but I agree on some of the points she raised there.

I know a lot of people who are not married.  And yes, they want to get married.  They want to settle down and have kids.  I would hardly call them shallow or selfish - and I definitely cannot call them sluts!

Growing up in a family or a Christian society that gives a lot of value to marriage, I can understand why people generally assume that marriage is a inevitable part of their future.  Unfortunately, this is not always the case especially for women.  Women dream of having their own Jerry Maguire, but it is easier to grab or download a copy of this movie than to find someone who would utter these three words, "You complete me".

Steven Barker Marked For Kill in Jail

In 2007, I wrote several blog posts on Baby P.  That little angel's story shook me to the core.  Everyday, I'd scour the internet for news about him - and I'd cry and cry.

Just now, I came across this article about Steven Barker, the depraved evil creature that hurt and eventually killed Baby Peter.  Apparently, he's been marked by Damien Fowkes, another prisoner.  Apparently, Fowkes was originally jailed for robbery but he's now jailed for "killing a well-known paedophile and slashing the throat of Soham killer Ian Huntley".  Apparently, Fowkes has turned vigilante - and right now he has Barker marked.

I don't know if I'd be happy about Fowkes or not. But I can't say I'd be sad if something equally terrible happens to Barker.

How I Removed XP Anti-Spyware

So, I opened my email and I saw this unassuming message from DHL Express (allegedly, of course).  Since I am waiting for something from my sister, my guard was down and I clicked on the email.  It didn't contain any other information but an attachment.  I usually do not fall for this kind of nasty fraud, but I thought, "What if Kris sent the package?" So, I clicked and then the attachment opened and then I run the file.  Stupid. Stupid. Stupid.

It was only after I clicked run that I saw the extension. EXE. You can just imagine the colourful language that came out of my mouth.  Avast popped up with a warning, but it was too late. Boxes started popping and popping and popping.

A box that looks like a legit Windows box came up and started scanning and then it listed down viruses and malware and trojans and all the effed-up stuffs that will drive you to a panicked state. It claimed to be XP Anti-Spyware and then it said to buy the registration key. I have never bought anything online. I'm one of those miserable pirates.

Anyway, I grabbed Erbe's unit (since the virus hijacked all my browsers) and looked for registration key. It was only then that I found out that the "thing" asking for a registration key, presenting itself as a protection software is actually the malware itself. crap.

And then I started looking for ways to remove the damn thing. I had to run the system in safe mode, download malwarebytes  to Erbe's unit, copied the installation file to a USB and run it in my unit.  I ran malwarebytes and it was able to detect 3 infections. 3! just 3!

I ran the system in normal mode and I was frustrated to see the nasty pop ups. This went on for a couple of hours, with me trying to look for ways to remove the malware.  I tried installing spybot, but it was hijacked too.

I tried to manually look for the malware to remove it but I can't find it from the registry entries. I read from a forum the same thing happening to someone - and she was told to try system restore.  Anyway, I finally threw in the towel and run system restore. voila! the system restored and then I installed superantispyware, update it and run it. It didn't find any infections. I reinstalled malwarebytes, update and run it. It didn't find anything. I run ccleaner and cleaned the registry. Now, everything is all up and running. I wonder if I have really cleaned the system.

I love Live Writer! Look! Look! :)

I love this offline blogging software. I do! I do! I downloaded this add-on and voila, I can post Polaroid pictures! It's so pretty! It's so pretty! - yeah, shoot me now.
Open-mouthed

Paige

P1050007

One of Paige's drawings. I really should get her some oil paints and let her try out her skills at painting.
For the last hour, I've been trying to find tips on how to get Paige to stop drinking milk from a milk bottle. It's not that she can't drink it from a cup.  It's a comfort thing for her  She loves sucking on the milk bottle because it soothes her.  I don't know how to get her to stop especially now that she just gets her bottle when she wants to drink milk.  Or she grabs Riley's.

How can I get her to stop?!?!

I'm also trying to find a way to get Riley to stop sucking on the damn pacifier.  Sheesh!

Manila Trip

The Manila trip was both good and bad.  The plan didn't work out and we were all so exhausted from travelling, but we had fun visiting Erbe's sister.  At one point, I spent an hour or so, watching these senior citizens do a dance marathon.  It was crazy!  They were all wearing sexy outfits and they danced for hours.  People were snickering at some outfits, but I was both amazed and amused by their stamina and guts. This was in SM Molino.

View bacoor tricycle

Check out the photos above.  Word of Advice: If you are tall and you plan on visiting Bacoor, Cavite and you don't have a car, prepare to crawl inside their tricycles.  They are so tiny and built so low, so close to the ground.  I just had to take pictures.

P1040006Paige wanted to ride here.  This was in SM Bacoor.  I didn't have a choice but to get on the ride with her.  You'd think after all the hellish rides in Jerudong Park that I'd find this boring, but I was scared!  My reaction was effing hilarious.  Okay, give me some credit. Those rounded things are small and a little movement on my park shakes it.  So, while Paige was screaming, "Yipee!" I was crazily signalling the operator to finish the damn ride. I just couldn't wait to get out. You should try it out.  Get a kid though. You'd feel weird getting in without a kid in tow.
