Sometimes, she took it upon herself to clean other people's yards. She decided to clean the vacant lot in front of our house.
Oh, oh, she told me she planted the banana trees. Those are like the barangay's banana trees.
She does that often - plants things for the whole barangay. Her plants/veggies often cause troubles between neighbors.
One time, she planted gourd (upo) and the vines crept over our house's roof onto the neighbor's roof. So, mamu told our neighbor that they could have the fruits as well. The other neighbors wanted to get gourd as well, but the neighbor with vines on their roofs refuse to share the fruits. This cause such a huge quarrel that mamu was forced to chop off the whole thing. She had to! After all, they neighbors were ready to kill each other over the gourd fruit.
Another time, she decided to plant "natong" (what's the effing English word for that again?) on the vacant lot beside our house. Everybody was happy. Mamu shared her plants again with the whole neighborhood., so everyone was happily benefiting from her "natong" (gabi).
In fact, you'd see old ladies picking up bundles of it to sell in the market. Seriously! Everybody was happy until Mamu ask our immediate neighbor (an old lady) to check the plants for her, and to make sure that everyone is not getting more than their fare share.
The old lady began to prohibit people to get "natong" from mamu's garden. This pissed everyone off. Again, it caused such a huge quarrel that mamu decided to just destroy her garden.
Now, she has those papayas again in front. I'm crossing my fingers for this one. But I seriously doubt it if would not cause any problem.
